April 25, 2005
Hello everyone,
I'm sitting at the L.A. Airport, waiting for my flight to Uganda. I will arrive on April [originally May] 27th. I'm off to work in refugee camps in Lira where 600,000 Northern Uganadans have fled to escape the rebel insurgency by the Lord's Resistence Army (LRA). The refugees there need alot of help. I will be helping build 10,000 highly efficient rocket stoves that use less fuel and make cooking safer. The inventor, Ken Goyer, is leading a group of 6 of us from April 27-May 25. My church is sending 2 of us as missionaries. We will also be working with the local organiztion All Nations Christian Care.
Here is the website where you can check out the work Ken has already been doing on this project:

These stoves cost $2 each, so we are raising $20,000. Already Ken and my fellow workers have raised $11,000. So I need help, if you can, to support the effort.
Please sponsor me and send any amount (it's tax deductable) you can by check payable to:
First Congregational Church - Pasadena

NOTE ON CHECK: Uganda Relief Project
More notes to follow and I certainly understand those of you who can't donate at this time. I wanted all you to know what I am imbarking on and to keep me in your thoughts this next month of time. When I get back my church will acknowledge your donation and let you know how we ended up spending the money. If by any chance we collect more funds than we use, any unused funds will go for other non-profit use by our church's mission fund.
Thank you much,
-Chuck-
